BIO

Stephanie is a queer Afro-Indigena Latina feminista poet, archivist, and reproductive justice activist+scholar. She was born and raised in the Bronx, NY by way of Guayaquil, Ecuador.

What place in your neighborhood is personally meaningful to you and why?

“St. Anselms School on Tinton Ave. is where I went to elementary school from 1st-8th grade. My 7th grade teacher, Ms. Shepherd, had us read Maya Angelou’s “Phenomenal Woman” for a school assembly and that was when I knew I was a poet. I immediately started writing so much poetry and even got one published at the end of that school year.”
