In addition to our flagship Create Change program, The Laundromat Project directly funds and commissions creative community building projects by New York City artists and neighbors through three initiatives: Create & Connect, Create & (Re)Connect, and Create & Reflect.
Create & Connect
Launched in 2020, Create & Connect is a micro-grant fund that seeds and supports creative projects by cultural practitioners, community builders, organizers, and makers living in our home of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
Create & (Re)Connect
Create & (Re)Connect (formerly Creative Action Fund (CAF)) is a micro-grant initiative to seed the ideas and civic actions of The LP Create Change alumni network. This fund is a critical part of our vision to make sustained investments in our growing artist network, nearly 250+ artists strong, by supporting their artmaking, leadership, and professional growth.
Create & Reflect
Create & Reflect, launched in 2022, invites visual artists to propose an artwork for a vinyl installation on the front street-level window of our community hub at 1476 Fulton Street in Bed-Stuy. The Laundromat Project will commission and showcase the artwork of one artist per year.
Creative Sustainability Fund
The Laundromat Project Creative Sustainability Fund is an innovative financial resource designed to support artists, cultural practitioners, and organizers who are members of The Laundromat Project (The LP) alumni community (exclusively). The Program aims to provide accessible, zero-interest loans to individuals with a commitment to social practice. The LP is offering these loans to provide temporary relief for artists and neighbors to allow them to focus on their craft, drive social change, and enhance community engagement, ensuring that creativity and innovation flourish in their neighborhoods.
