Sally Chen
Sally Chen (they/she/he) is a queer, nonbinary, second-generation Chinese American children’s book illustrator, muralist, and poet born & based in NYC. Their work explores the quiet intimacies of daily life. They utilize free-flowing lines, vibrant colors, glowing silhouettes, bits of verse, and portraiture to capture the many fleeting moments of joy and sorrow that keep us yearning for another day, and consequently, a brighter future. Sally has exhibited work at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, painted three publicly accessible pianos for Sing for Hope (one notably in Union Square Park), and created editorial illustrations for NPR and QueerAF.
