Katherine Miranda

Katherine Miranda (they/he) is a non-binary, Mexican-Puerto Rican artist born, raised and based in the Bronx. Sourcing material from their environment, family and community, the objects in their work reference Bronx culture, familial childhood experiences, Latinx/Latine history and its relationship with the United States. Utilizing these objects, they create work that acts as a reflection, an investigation and an homage to familial and communal histories.

In 2022, Miranda was an AIM Fellow at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. They were previously a 2021 New York Community Trust Van Lier Fellow at Wave Hill Gardens where they held their first solo show, I Answer Back. Their work has been exhibited in places such as Bronx Council of the Arts, The Point CDC, BAAD!, The Yard: Williamsburg and Brooklyn College. Miranda has also been featured on News 12, BronxNet, NBC New York, Pix 11 News and The New York Times. They received their BFA from Macaulay Honors at Brooklyn College.
