For the Kinfolk

Project: We Be the Block
We Be the Block is, at its core, a block party—but it’s more than just a celebration. It’s a call to community in every sense of the word. Powered by the spirit of Bed-Stuy, this event brings together music, art, local business, and mutual aid to uplift and give back to the neighborhood that inspires it. The day will feature live performances by Bed-Stuy musicians, a walking gallery showcasing art by local creators, and a marketplace of vendors rooted in the community. Alongside the festivities, we’ll host a back-to-school and mutual aid drive, ensuring tangible support for our neighbors. Attendees will be invited to create, connect, and learn through an interactive stamp system. Stamps can be earned by donating to mutual aid efforts, participating in the day’s community project (like a collaborative art piece or planting for a community garden), shopping from local vendors, engaging with artists, and exploring our Did You Know? stations that highlight Bed-Stuy’s rich history and culture. Those who collect the set number of stamps will gain access to Bed-Stuytopia—an exclusive VIP zone filled with free beverages, treats, swag from local businesses, and immersive photo ops that pay homage to Bed-Stuy culture.
Bio:
Our mission is to build community and culture-forward spaces through storytelling, mutual aid, and people-powered experiences. We are dedicated to celebrating and preserving the soul and spirit of Black communities by centering the voices, art, and histories that often go overlooked. For the Kinfolk is more than a brand—it’s a movement rooted in love, creativity, and collective care.
We create intentional spaces where people can show up as their full selves, connect across generations, and contribute to a culture that values authenticity, joy, and resistance. Through curated events, meaningful collaborations, and mutual aid efforts, we aim to inspire belonging, nurture creativity, and amplify the beauty and resilience of our communities. Our goal is to protect what matters, honor where we come from, and build toward futures that reflect and respect our people. We believe that by coming together, we can spark lasting change, strengthen our roots, and reimagine what’s possible.
