Anurima Kumar

Anurima Kumar is an interdisciplinary artist based in Queens, NY, originally from Michigan. Her practice is centered on participation and community engagement over solo studio-based art. She has facilitated dozens of workshops with working-class, youth, queer, formerly and currently incarcerated, houseless organizations and communities on art and racial justice, environmental justice, and decolonial futures. Her mediums span from natural dying and anti-colonial color theory to political mural & poster painting. She is also an emerging DJ and has explored combining music, dance, and poetry. Anurima’s art is rooted in her work as a community organizer and public health worker. She’s interested in strengthening the connections between art, community, and organizing.
