In what neighborhood do you live?

I live in Middle Village, Queens.

How did you first become connected to The LP, or hear about The LP?

I heard about The LP through a friend. I immediately started following The LP on Instagram and when I saw a position open, I had to apply!

So, what attracted you to The LP? How does working here relate to your professional
goals?

The LP is not just doing work within the Bed-Stuy community, it is showing up for all folx, everywhere. That commitment to empowering people to be fully themselves and to exist in community with one another is one of the biggest reasons I was immediately drawn to this place.

Community is such a vital part of daily life. It truly takes a village to live, grow, and evolve as individuals and as families. Being part of The LP means being part of something that can inspire the kind of change I want to see, not just in Brooklyn but across all of NYC.

I am a firm believer in being a daily student of life, and I see this opportunity as so much more than a job. I look forward to engaging with likeminded folx who genuinely care about the arts, about community, and about living life to the fullest. I know that being surrounded by people who share those values will push me to grow in ways I cannot even fully imagine yet.

Do you have your own creative practice? If so, tell us more!

Growing up, I was in chorus and discovered I am an alto. Can I sing? Ehhh, but I enjoy every second of it! Dancing is another love of mine. Am I a professional? I wish! But dance has always been a way for me to stay in tune with my body in ways that just feel right.

I am also an avid Canva user and will whip up collages, birthday cards, signs and more just because I can. And cooking? That is my favorite form of art. There is something about creating a meal that feeds people in more ways than one.

Being a part of the Puerto Rican diaspora has propelled me to instinctively want to provide awesome meals for folx to enjoy. And while I was not formally taught by family, I kept a close eye my entire life. Having access to the internet has opened up a whole world of cuisines to explore and recipes to discover.

Music, movies, visual art, digital art, dancing and everything in between is all beautiful to me. I truly cannot imagine my life without the arts. Art is woven into who I am.

Can you tell us about an artist or project that has inspired you?

Bad Bunny’s 2025 album “DeBI TiRAR MaS FOToS” has truly moved me in ways I did not expect. I am a second generation NuYoRican, meaning I am both a New Yorker and Puerto Rican. My parents were born and raised in NYC and both sets of grandparents are from Puerto Rico. I was raised culturally Puerto Rican to a certain extent, but it was not until this album that I felt a deep and full sense of pride in being part of the Puerto Rican diaspora.

While I do not speak Spanish, I enjoy every single song on DTMF and feel so seen knowing that I am not the only non-Spanish-speaking Puerto Rican living in New York City. There is something about this album that makes me feel incredibly close to my ancestors and to my culture. I listen to it at least once a day, and every time it hits differently.

This album has inspired me to keep tapping into music, not just as a cultural connection but as a reminder of how art has the power to bring people together, bridge gaps, and create a sense of belonging that words alone sometimes cannot. That is the magic of art, and it is exactly why I cannot live without it.

What is your favorite film? Album? Food?

My favorite films are Practical Magic, The Craft, A Walk in the Clouds and without a doubt Sinners! Each one holds a special place in my heart for very different reasons. When it comes to music, some of my favorite artists are Aaliyah, Kehlani, Bad Bunny, Karol G, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Linkin Park and Mumford & Sons. I am a Top 40 Princess through and through, which means my music taste is literally all over the place and I am proud of that. Pop, Reggaeton, R&B, Salsa, Hip Hop, Punk Rock, Bachata…the list truly goes on. I give everything a try because music is art, and without a soundtrack I honestly think life would be pretty boring.

Now food? That is a whole conversation. My favorite really depends on the cuisine we are talking about. A traditional Puerto Rican Christmas meal of pernil with rice, gandules and pasteles? Absolutely top tier. Thai food? Give me Pineapple Fried Rice or Pad See Ew any day. Southern comfort? Baked mac and cheese, collard greens and jalapeño cornbread hit every time. Dominican? Sancocho and Tres Golpes are everything. I eat just about anything, with a few exceptions. At the end of the day, I just genuinely enjoy food and all the joy and culture that
comes with it.

Where do you do your laundry?

I do my laundry at Metro Laundromat – 24 Hours!

In your opinion, why does art matter?

Art matters because it gives us all the opportunity to not only tap into someone else’s passions but to fuel our own every single day. I personally cannot imagine living my life without the arts. It is not just something I enjoy, it is something I need.

Art gives every single one of us permission to create, whether we are just starting out or have been doing it our whole lives. There is no wrong way to express yourself through art and that is exactly what makes it so powerful and so freeing. It does not ask for perfection. It just asks you to show up and be honest.

To witness someone else’s art is a privilege that I think gets overlooked far too often. When someone shares something they have created, they are sharing a piece of themselves, and that deserves to be received with care and intention. The gleam of pride I see in folx’ eyes when they share their art is truly one of the most inspiring things I get to witness. That look says everything. It is a reminder that art is not just about the final product. It is about what it unlocks in the person creating it, and in the people lucky enough to experience it.

What value do you most relate to at The LP? Why?

Love can be shown in so many ways, but out of all of The LP’s values, “Be Propelled by Love” is the one I feel most deeply connected to. The idea of love as a radical and essential act of power and protest, as a force that can help create the kind of world we all deserve to live in, is something I do not just admire. It is something I personally live by every single day. I am naturally a sensitive and caring person. I have been through my own share of ups and downs and through all of it, love has been the thing that kept me going. Love from others has inspired me to want to grow, to do better and to keep evolving.

But just as importantly, the love I have for myself has driven me to want more, not just for me but for all folx around me. Self-love is not selfish. It is the foundation from which everything else is built. I truly believe that healthy love, the kind that is rooted in honesty, community and genuine care, has the power to propel people to thrive and succeed in ways they never thought possible. When love is at the center of the work, the impact goes so much deeper. That is the kind of energy I bring with me and the kind of environment I am beyond excited to grow within at The LP.
