Kinfolk Tech is hosting The People’s Archive, a teach-in series within a larger initiative to create a living archive that addresses America’s 250th anniversary this year and counters the national narrative.
The People’s Archive is a teach-in series that brings together scholars, cultural and memory workers, artists, and creative technologists to explore the intersections of memory and digital justice, collective power, reparations, and radical futures. Through this series, participants examine how archives can become sites of resistance, how technology can serve liberation, and how storytelling becomes a practice of reclamation and repair.
Inspired by Kinfolk’s monument to Fannie Lou Hamer—sharecropper, organizer, co-founder of the Freedom Farm Cooperative, and tireless advocate for economic justice—this hybrid session, featuring Niki Franco, and LP Alums Ariana Faye Allensworth, Shanna Sabio, and Ajamu Kojo on a panel, examines reparations not as compensation for the past but as an investment in radical futures. Hamer understood that political rights without economic power meant continued subjugation, that land and resources were the foundation of true freedom, and that Black people deserved not just a seat at the table but ownership of the means of survival and self-determination.
