The LP’s Birthday Party

In celebration of The Laundromat Project’s 20th Anniversary!

The Laundromat Project (The LP) is turning 20, and we’re celebrating two decades of art, community, and collective power with a joyful birthday bash! From the stoops of Bed-Stuy to community gardens in the Bronx and many neighborhoods in between, we’ve reimagined everyday spaces as hubs of creativity and community, uplifting Black and brown neighborhoods across NYC. Join us for an evening rooted in love, culture, and creativity as we celebrate our legacy and dream of our future!

Taking place at the home of our dear friends, MoCADA, we’re dreaming up the best house party ever with the premiere of our 20th anniversary documentary, party favors, a DJ, and plenty of dancing! This milestone marks not just the passage of time, but a spiritual threshold—a moment to reflect, give thanks, and recommit to the work of dreaming and building together.

Come toast to 20 years of community-rooted creativity and the many futures still to come.

Dress code: Come dressed to be seen!

Note: RSVP required. Space is limited.

OUR BIRTHDAY MIX

The Laundromat Project presents “A Summer’s Day Mix” as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations!

Band, Maxwell, Martine Girault, Guru, Sade, Frankie Beverly & Maze, The Brand New Heavies, Soul II Soul, Donny Hathaway, and Marvin Gaye—was produced by the Midnight Rockers Express to celebrate The Laundromat Project’s 20th Anniversary, and as a lead up to the DJ collective’s performance at the July 18th birthday party at MoCADA.

ABOUT OUR DJs

The Midnight Rockers Express is a long-running collaboration by Lee Harrison, DJ GETLIVE!, and Joakim Jansson; this true labor of love has seen the collective present over a decade’s worth of curated mixes and special live sessions.

Throughout a twenty-five-year DJ practice, New York’s GETLIVE! has used the dance floor, a radio show, and a mix series to represent his city’s deep music culture and history, championing new artists and sharing global sounds. His ability to connect the musical dots between styles, genres, and eras was shaped by his rich cultural experiences in NYC’s late ‘90s hip-hop environment, where, as a youth, he was immersed in the b-boy/b-girl dance scenes, the competitive battle DJ circuit, and his community’s mobile sound system culture. As a touring DJ, he has helmed nights at renowned venues like Tokyo’s Club Harlem, London’s Cargo, Seoul’s Courte Cafe, The Standard’s Le Bain in New York, and Dante’s HiFi+ in Miami.Through a headlining residency at his own “New York, New York” party, GETLIVE! has played alongside a range of legends and new icons, including DJ Clark Kent (rest in peace), Kid Capri, Venus X, The Alchemist, JADALAREIGN, Stretch Armstrong, and Eli Escobar. This July, GETLIVE! has once again been tapped by DJ Moma to play Everyday People’s much-anticipated annual summer event in Brooklyn.

As a career creative director, Lee Harrison has helped guide a range of media projects, including The FADER magazine, BLKNWS, The African Game by Andrew Dosunmu, and I & I by Alessandro Simonetti and Anicée Gaddis. He recently collaborated with Alice Grandoit-Śutka on “We Are All Woven,” a two-channel film installation presented by the Copenhagen-based Re:Arc institute at the Biennale Architettura 2025 in Venice. Lee is currently directing a nonprofit music space opening in Portland, Oregon.
