Quarter Sessions: Bilal
In celebration of The Laundromat Project’s 20th Anniversary!
Join us on July 18 at 1:00 pm via livestream for our first Quarter Session, featuring Bilal!
Quarter Sessions is a vibrant music series that brings together live performances from emerging and established artists in an intimate, one-of-a-kind setting, transforming the walls of The LP Storefront into a space of creativity, connection, and cultural power. Inspired by the raw authenticity of Tiny Desk, Quarter Sessions honors the heartbeat of our community and the places where we fellowship and gather. Here, performance becomes a site of reclamation and soulful joy.
For our first Quarter Session, coinciding with our 20th anniversary celebration, we are pleased to welcome Bilal, whose music encompasses hip-hop, jazz, and soul. Bilal’s rich voice and genre-bending inspires us for its cultural relevance and spiritual depth. Through emotional resonance and his one-of-a-kind sound, Bilal aligns perfectly with The LP’s mission of honoring authenticity and connections with the places and spaces where extraordinary things can happen in everyday places.
Free food and refreshments will be provided!
Note: This event is livestream only.
About the Artist

Bilal Sayeed Oliver is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is an independent artist, noted for his wide vocal range, work across multiple genres, and intense live performances. Starting out at a major label, Bilal debuted with his popular R&B single “Soul Sista” in 2000, but turned to playing jazz venues and recording more progressive soul music in subsequent years. He has commercially released four albums to critical success, while his unreleased but widely leaked second album Love for Sale also found wide acclaim among critics and listeners. He was a member of the Soulquarians, an experimental black music collective active from the late 1990s to early 2000s. He has been well received, both nationally and internationally, with an extensive list of collaborations including Kendrick Lamar, Common, Erykah Badu, Solange Knowles, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Guru, Kimbra, J Dilla, Robert Glasper, and The Roots.
