November Liberation Series: Mycelium Movement Workshop
First Fridays, or Liberation Series, is a monthly, artist-led, community-building gathering hosted in our Bed-Stuy storefront. Each season is guided by an artist working at the intersection of culture, imagination, and collective power. Our theme for Fall is Joy is a Rhythm, where we embody collective joy with LP alum Fei Li at Accented Projects and cultural organizers born and raised in New York to practice rap, R&B, game, somatic movement, and hip-hop dance. Together, we’ll create joy through art, culture, and belonging across generations and diasporas.
For November, Accented Projects is partnering with Djassi DaCosta Johnson to present Mycelium Movement. This activation mirrors the alchemy of the fungal world: a somatic journey through Qi Gong, Kemetic yoga, and Afro-Diasporic dance toward collective transmutation. The room learns together, then loosens into a dance party with Belinda Becker.
