December Liberation Series | Pass the Move: Holiday Dance Battle
First Fridays, or Liberation Series, is a monthly, artist-led, community-building gathering hosted in our Bed-Stuy storefront. Each season is guided by an artist working at the intersection of culture, imagination, and collective power. Our theme for Fall is Joy is a Rhythm, where we embody collective joy with LP alum Fei Li at Accented Projects and cultural organizers born and raised in New York to practice rap, R&B, game, somatic movement, and hip-hop dance. Together, we’ll create joy through art, culture, and belonging across generations and diasporas.
To close our Liberation Series, artist JMacDonough is inviting neighbors to a mini workshop that teaches hip-hop footwork to anyone willing to learn. Professional dancers will take the floor and battle. The circle will stay open: step in if you want it, watch if you don’t. The night will close as a holiday dance party, with the whole room on the floor!
Free food and refreshments will be provided.
