Wéma Ragophala

Wéma Ragophala has worked at the intersection of art and community for over 20 years. She is a director, performer, educator, and administrator who has directed Sankofa Project, The Homecoming Queen, Grown Adorable Adult, In Her Memory, a play healing from trauma in four generations of women in one family. She provides professional development training for teaching artists to support learners of all abilities in the schools and cultural institutions. In 2023, she collaborated with South African Poets to develop and curate a tour called, smallgirl rising: Connecting the Divine Black Feminine.  She is deeply invested in youth justice, disability justice, arts & activism, and fights to dismantle inequities, systemic racism, while building spaces where people of all ages and abilities thrive.
