Alam will host open studios for community to engage with his creative (and collaborative) process as he begins work on Meter & Light, an installation enacting in miniature the interlocking rhythms of time in Muslim life, while in residence at the Rockaway Hotel. His research materials on view will include archival material and academic work in preparation for his compositional process on voice, piano, and electronics. Collaborators will be at work in the studio for the final stage of video production and editing,
