Please join Zain Alam for part 1 of his three-channel video installation, Meter & Light, which opens to the public at 5:00pm. Meter & Light is an installation enacting, in miniature, the interlocking rhythms of time in Muslim life. The reception will include a night of music from the Islamic world, curated by Alam. Live DJ sets will showcase the inspirations he’s found in the continuities and differences among coastal sound cultures––including those of New York City where Alam lives and performs, spinning at venues such as the Sultan Room, C’mon Everybody, and Sisters.
