Kristy McCarthy

2015 Create Change Fellow

BIO

Kristy began painting three years ago after the death of her cousin. She started out experimenting on her own with acrylics and spray paint, and within a year had curated and collaborated on three public art projects in her neighborhood, painted live at various live painting events, and was invited to paint at the Northside Art and Music Festival. She spent the next year traveling and painting murals in Mexico, Cuba, Spain, Guatemala, and California; her most recent mural being at Art Basel in Miami, December 2014. She was also recently included in a group show in Washington D.C. Kristy’s work centers around themes of human interconnectedness, nature, and the exploitation of developing nations.
