Project: Masquerade on Macon
In this, our 8th year, we will plan, produce, and perform an original live-performance Halloween play on the street outside the Macon Branch library in Bed-Stuy. Masquerade on Macon is a 100% volunteer-led organization and open to all members of our community who would like to participate. We write an original script, usually based on literary sources. We cast the players from Bed-Stuy residents. We build sets and props to illustrate the story. We are fully produced with lighting, sound, music, and costumes. The play is performed multiple times between 5PM and 8PM and the audience rotates throughout the evening. The street is closed to traffic so local children have a safe Halloween event.
Bio:
We are a Community Theatre company composed primarily of Bed-Stuy residents. Masquerade on Macon was founded in 2013 and includes some members of the Halloween 313 Company, which presented free outdoor Halloween shows in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn for 20 years. For the past 7 years, Masquerade on Macon has presented an original Halloween show on the street outside of the Macon Branch Library. The street is closed for the event, which provides a safe and family-friendly way for the community to enjoy Halloween. Each year, hundreds of Bed-Stuy residents and their friends attend this fun and spooky celebration of the season.
