Project: The Soul of Food’s “For the Love of Grains” workshop
“For the Love of Grains” is a hands on culinary workshop dedicated to Afro-Indigenous grains that are mainstays across African diasporas. During the session we’ll spend time honoring the stories of rice, sorghum and corn; going over the milling process; and collectively preparing them in a dish we’ll share together. Through discussion and preparation of these grain-producing plants we’ll learn how they connect and continue to feed Black and Indigenous diasporas. This session is a part of “The Soul of Food”, a Deep Routes workshop series honoring the foodways that connect plants, peoples, and lands across Afro-Indigenous diasporas.
