Dahkil Hausif

Dahkil Hausif lives to empower himself and others through his passion for storytelling. Growing up traveling the world as a NYC-born military brat, Dahkil later embraced his griot birthright as a mentee of Micere Githae Mugo, a Meredith Professor of Teaching Excellence in the African-American Studies Department at Syracuse University, learning to understand the power of African Orature. He has since gone on to have a successful and interesting career over the past 25 years as a commercial film editor (Beats, Verizon, Bvlgari, GMC), voice-over artist (ESPN 30 for 30 “What If I Told You…”), and a writer & director (Shades of Brooklyn on HBO).

For over two decades, Russell has documented the Bedford-Stuyvesant community and beyond with a discerning eye and deep commitment to Black life, resilience, and memory.
