Taking Place is a virtual open studio with Karl Orozco and Cynthia Alberto, artists operating from different positions within the greater Philippine diaspora in New York City. Karl and Cynthia are collaborators of 2020 Create Change Artists-in-Residence Xenia Diente and Jaclyn Reyes, whose residency project, Little Manila Queens: Bayanihan Arts, has brought together the Philippine community predominantly in Woodside, Queens through a series of art interventions, mutual aid, and community-building initiatives. In this event, each artist will address their own creative practice in the midst of both community and isolation, as well as in the legacies of colonial oppression.
