Claro de los Reyes & Shani Peters

Shani and Claro felt it important to speak through a medium that they would enjoy making and interacting with. Three images reflect their discoveries.

Each year, our artist development program, Create Change, supports 15 to 20 artists developing their socially engaged creative practice through our Fellowship, Residency, and Commissions program. In 2012, we began asking our Create Change artists to pair up for Creative Conversations: open-ended creative exchanges to be published on our blog. Read on to meet our Create Change alumni.

Claro de los Reyes and Shani Peters

In early September 2013 we, Shani and Claro, met for a Creative Conversation. We walked and talked around the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan and spent time at The High Line park where we spoke informally about the relationship of our artistic practice and how it relates to our personal histories and New York and to “home” and travel and our dreams and other ideas not fully formed just yet. We felt it important to speak through a medium that we would enjoy making and interacting with. These three images reflect our discoveries of each other and ourselves.
