2026 Create Change Lab Recap
Last year, The LP launched the Create Change Lab, a three-day retreat during which our artist cohort comes together in a bucolic environment outside the City to experience embodied learning, ceremony, and visioning. Rooted in trust, reciprocity, and collective care, the Lab asks artists to explore what it means to cocreate art with community and move toward change with intention. Earlier in April, that circle of care expanded as our full staff participated in Lab, strengthening relationships with artists and helping carry what is cultivated there across all of The LP’s work.
The Create Change Lab is a three-day intensive retreat where fellows and residents gather to explore the intersections of art, community building, and social change. Rooted in The Laundromat Project’s values of community, equity, and artistic expression, the Lab immerses participants in a series of interactive workshops designed to deepen skills in cultural organizing, storytelling, and community partnerships. Through sessions on intentionality, embodiment, and decolonized thinking, the Lab offers a space for rest, reflection, and connection—preparing participants to reenter their communities with new strategies and renewed purpose.
