Please tell us about a place in your neighborhood that is personally meaningful to you, and why?

St. Anselms School on Tinton Ave. is where I went to elementary school from 1st-8th grade. My 7th grade teacher, Ms. Shepherd, had us read Maya Angelou’s “Phenomenal Woman” for a school assembly and that was when I knew I was a poet. I immediately started writing so much poetry and even got one published at the end of that school year.

Stephanie is a queer Afro-Indigena Latina feminista poet, archivist, and reproductive justice activist+scholar. She was born and raised in the Bronx, NY by way of Guayaquil, Ecuador.
