Greening the City

Greening the City is a festival focused on environmental awareness, urban beautification and wellness. Click here to see the photos from Greening the City!


Free and open to general public, Greening the City addresses environmentalism with a down-to-earth approach, providing New Yorkers of all ages with the opportunity to learn everyday ways to make eco-friendly choices that are fun and affordable.


It all happens as part of the 12th annual Fish Parade and Summer Festival at Barretto Point Park.


12:30 – 1:30 PM

Self-Watering Planters with Rosalba Lopez-Ramirez


Learn to make self-watering planters by reusing yogurt containers, saving time and water and perfect for indoor usage.


1:30 – 2:30 PM

Paper Beads Workshop with Fay Bonas


Create unique pieces of jewelry using magazine pages and scrap paper that otherwise might be piling up at work or home!


2:30 – 3:30 PM

How to Make & Knit with Plarn with Sujata Epps


Re-purpose old plastic bags into plarn (plastic yarn) which you can use to make all sorts of fun crafts and patterns.


3:30 – 4:30 PM

Healthy Cooking Demo with Rosalba Lopez-Ramirez on behalf of the Kelly St. Garden.
